Welcome to Year 4

This first week of school has been one of change for 4B. Coming back to school after a long break brings about its challenges. Re-learning routines, early morning starts, forming new relationships, adapting to a different classroom and adjusting to new teachers are some such challenges that our students face at the beginning of every new school year. This week the members of 4B have shown just how flexible they are by quickly adapting and settling in with two new teachers and they are to be applauded on the maturity with which they have managed the mid week change. During the latter days of this week the students have shown a willingness to just get on with their learning and absorb any new experiences that they have been faced with. With this there have been early signs that we have a class of good thinkers who are willing to take risks and grow as inquirers. It promises to be a year of great growth. We have started on our unit by brainstorming on the central idea, "Our planet has limited resources that are unevenly distributed" with an emphasis on water. This will continue to be the focus for the next 5 weeks alongside place value and numeracy in maths and persuasive writing as the language genre. Next week we will be getting started on reading groups and there will also be homework tasks to consolidate learning and encourage further thinking across different subject areas. The following slideshow gives an insight into happenings in 4B during Wednesday and Thursday. 4B Week 1 on PhotoPeach
