In order to support Year 4's work in their current unit of inquiry, One World, Many Beliefs, children are learning songs and a percussion ensemble that require them to connect different parts, rhythms and pitches by working together. This beautiful round, Vine and Fig Tree, has lyrics that speak about people living together in peace and harmony and mentions the fig tree, an important symbol in many religions and belief systems. Below, the video shows Year 4 children singing the round for the very first time! It sounds good already, but in coming music lessons we will work on singing the pitches more accurately, and taking into account tempo and dynamics to make it even more beautiful. Considering that Year 4 struggled to sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat as a round a few weeks ago, this is quite impressive!
