Year 4
students have been quite busy this week.
It's hard to believe that it's only the second week of school! They had
interesting class debates (to introduce our Unit ‘Persuasive Writing’. See
slide show below.), took home their first Homework Contract and Math homework,
learnt how to manage and plan their homework every day in class, so that it is
not all left to be done on Wednesday (the day before it is due), elected Team
Captains and Vice Captains, found out about the water cycle and voted for some
students who ran for Primary Student Council.
A lot of
effort and thought went into the candidate’s speeches and posters. All seven gave strong reasons as to why
should students vote for them. They were very confident when presenting their
speech and supportive of each other when the results were announced. Well done all.
We now have
two Student Council members, Isabelle and Joseph - congratulations!
Exciting topics to debate; Children should always eat junk food and School should be on weekends too! - Writing to Persuade tuning-in activity. The students are learning to express and present their points of view- in order to persuade the opposing team!
Well done Isabel and Joseph!
